There is a type of peace inside each of us when we slow down for a moment and take an intentional breath. Wonder what would happen if we did that more often, as a whole?

Oh dear, this girl-boy sounds terribly naive. Has he even heard of 'Human Nature'? Does he understand why it exists? (Survival / evolution / the next generation etc…) Has he any idea what would happen to the human race if you removed it (if he does, he doesn't explain!). This poor boy-girl is wasting the time of the people who watch this presentation (I am one!) because they could better have employed themselves in the sphere of reality.Ah, and there is the rub. He probably gets more shags as a bullshitting foppish hippy than if he actually grew up and expressed grounded wisdom… accepting the truth of being truly human, rather than the idealistic product of threat-less affluence. My prediction? This poor little girl-boy won't grow up to be happy. And he'll see that as a virtue! Also, this upload is eight years old… I'm literally wasting time!

Many people I personally know, in real life, in the flesh and blood, can rationalize war. They look weird when I rationalize peace. Is that not odd?!

Really enjoyed this talk. The best Ted talks are when they capture you, the ones that keep you focused and interested in what they have to say.
First I have heard of peace day but I agree with it 100% and that every bit counts 🙂
Loved the end quote he used of one white square and one drop in a jar of clear water

God calls to the Home of Peace.” (The Quran, 10:25)

“And good and evil deeds are not alike. Repel evil with good. And he who is your enemy will become your dearest friend.” (41:33-34)

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted. (Al-Qur'an 49:13)

And when other relations and orphans and the poor are present at the division of heritage, give them something therefrom and speak to them words of kindness.  – (Al-Qur'an 4:9)

And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace – (Al Qur'an 25:63)

But if one fears from the bequeather [some] error or sin and corrects that which is between them, there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. – (Al Qur'an 2:182)

Except those who join a group between whom and you there is a treaty (of peace), or those who approach you with hearts restraining them from fighting you as well as fighting their own people. If Allah had pleased, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you: Therefore if they withdraw from you but fight you not, and (instead) send you (Guarantees of) peace, then Allah Hath opened no way for you (to war against them).  – (Al Qur'an 4:90)

No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah – then We are going to give him a great reward.  – (Al Qur'an 4:144)

And do not make [your oath by] Allah an excuse against being righteous and fearing Allah and making peace among people. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.  – (Al Qur'an 2:224)

Abuse not those to whom they pray, apart from God, or they will abuse God in revenge without knowledge. So We have decked out fair to every nation their deeds; then to their Lord they shall return, and He will tell them what they have been doing.  – (Al Qur'an 6:108)

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. – (Al Qur'an 5:32

O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent – then it is those who are the wrongdoers. – (Al Qur'an 49:11

Whereby Allah guideth him who seeketh His good pleasure unto paths of peace. He bringeth them out of darkness unto light by His decree, and guideth them unto a straight path. – (Al Qur'an 5:16

In a hasidic adage: "one small ray of light dispels much darkness"

Same here. One day of light. Will shine through the year in a big way.  Let's do this!
